Mr. Copes personal publications include: Quiet Lives (1983) On the Bridge (1986) Fragments from the Stars (1990) Coming Home (1993) Silences for Love (1998) Turn the Wheel (2003) 3 2007 Briana Urena Age: 16 A New Dawn Breaks (inspired by "Llanto Por Ignacio Sanchez Mejias" by Fede- rico Garcia Lorca) The funeral procession ebbs and flows like the roaring sea lapping onto the shore in mournful rhythmic beats "too young" they moan."too young" The animals seem to scream along with them The World as one cries out. The gift of life was taken away from you as quickly as it was breathed 'The indifference of angels the cruelness of Gods' a storm quickly brews in my mind as it soars through the possibilities- Why had you been taken away so soon? And what will happen to you now that you have left? Will you become like the earth A part of everything again Your blood seeping from your beautiful eyes your glorious head broken now and belonging not to you any longer but to the inconstant Mother Earth. pouring from your mouth to be eaten by the ground the flowers making a bed of your skull reflecting the vanity that once rightfully belonged to you. I will clench that blessed earth like it were mine and mine alone. and scream to be taken alive.a sacrifice to nature's course Will you stay ever young encased in your heavenly form the jealous angels unable to reach such heights of perfect the goddesses unwilling to face their rival of dark curling locks and rose petal lips of flushed cheeks and pearl skin of child's eyes and ancients soul? Will you be a martyr for our sorrow? A reason to cry each time the sun beats? A reason to hate all that you once loved in memory of you. Will you come back to entreat your mu ...
