Content Inside: 4-H for the Teen O nce a 4-H member reaches 13 many more opportunities are open that promote responsibility leadership and gives the member incentive to head to the future confident and prepared. Junior Leaders This 4-H Club provides leadership opportunities at the county level for planning and incorporating ideas for Red Ribbon Week and help with many 4-H events. Junior Leaders should be 13 and over. Contact Carrie Jellison 419-238-0448 if you are interested. New members may join any time. Camp Counselors If you have been involved as a camper for many years and are now too old to go to camp consider becoming a camp counselor. Counselors provide leadership and camaraderie for the campers in their cabins. Counselors go through an extensive training program before they take on the responsibility of 4-H camp. Counselors generally are over 15 years old or older. Applications are due in the fall of the year. 4-H Fashion Board Fashion Board members are essentially interested in fashion and clothing construction. They plan and participate in the fashion shows for various agencies and events and plan clinics to teach sewing techniques to younger 4-H-ers. You must have two prior years of 4-H sewing experience and be 13 or in the eighth grade. Contact Jill McCoy 419- 749-2740 if interested. Trip Awards As a teen you are eligible to apply for county trip awards. These trips give you great opportunities at the state and national level to participate in trips and camps that provide learning and leadership. Included are: Conservation camp (14+) Leadership Camp (14+) and Ohio 4-H Teen Conference(13+). These trips expand your horizons and help develop leadership and communication. Applications are due the end of January. Buckeye Ambassadors If you would like to join a team that promotes 4-H within our community you can apply to become a Buckeye Ambassador.
