Content Inside: V26 1/2 V26. Wood Carving 1. Task Make a wood carving according to the sketch (Acanthus) provided. 2. Allocated time 5 hours 3. Specifications The dimensions should be 200mm x 200mm, which is the size of the sketch to be distributed and traced on the wooden plate. The carving depth should be 4mm to 6mm. 4. Instructions ▪ Contestants are not allowed to lend or borrow tools during the contest. ▪ Contestants shall notify the judge when they finish the task. 5. Materials to be provided ▪ Japanese Katsura wood (Cercidiphyllum japonicium) Upper board (200mm x 200mm x 10mm) Bottom board (240mm x 240mm x 10mm) ▪ Carbon paper ▪ Writing utensils 6. Equipment, tools, etc. to be prepared on site ▪ Working table (Approximately 1200mm x 600mm x 600mm) with a 12mm thick board attached on top ▪ Round chair (height-adjustable) ▪ Check board on the table (400mm x 30mm x 15mm) ▪ Desk lamp ▪ Container of water for sharpening chisel (300mm x 200mm x 50mm) ▪ Sharpening stone base (320mm x 100mm x 15mm) ▪ Towel (for sharpening) 7. Items to be brought by each contestant ▪ A set of carving chisels (in principle, electric tools are not allowed) Note: Contestants who wish to bring their own equipment, tools, etc. including those listed in section 6 above are requested to prepare a list of such tools and present it to the organizer for approval in advance. The organizer reserves the right not to allow the use of any tools that are considered to give the contestant an unfair advantage.
