Content Inside: Rockland County Sanitary Code ARTICLE XVI TATTOO PARLORS 16.1.0 - Declaration of Policy It is the health policy of the Rockland County Health Department to protect the health and safety of its citizens by assuring the sanitary and safe operation of tattoo parlors. 16.2.0 - Definitions 16.2.1 Adequate Light The term "adequate light" shall mean that the tattoo parlor be so illuminated as to permit all tattooing to be clearly visible without obstruction by shadow or darkness. 16.2.2 Adequate Ventilation The term "adequate ventilation" shall mean a free and unrestricted circulation of fresh air throughout the tattoo parlor and the expulsion of foul or stagnant air. 16.2.3 Tattoo The term "tattoo" shall mean the marking or coloring of the skin of any person by any means as to form an indelible mark, figure, or scroll or symbol upon or under the skin of such individual or by the production of scars upon such persons skin. 16.2.4 Tattoo Artist The term "tattoo artist" shall mean any person who tattoos another. 16.2.5 Tattoo Operator The term "tattoo operator" shall mean any person who owns, controls, operates, conducts or manages, directly or indirectly, any tattoo parlor whether actually performing the work of tattooing or not. 16.2.6 Tattoo Parlor The term "tattoo parlor" shall mean any room or space where tattooing is practiced or where the business of tattooing is conducted or any part thereof. 16.2.7 Work Room The term "work room" shall mean the room in which the work of tattooing is performed. - 261- Rockland County Sanitary Code 16.3.0 - Inspections The Commissioner of Health, or his representative, shall have access while the tattoo parlor is in operation, whether open to the public for service or not, for the purpose of determining compliance with the Rockland County Sanitary Code. 16.4.0 - Facilities and Equipment 16.4.1 - General Physical Environment 16.4. ...
