Content Inside: Ceramic Art (Master of Fine Arts) Prior to 2002 the statistics reflect all MFA graduates, not separated by discipline. Special information about art-related outcomes Art students define career success differently than many other students, and their beginning jobs out of college reflect this. For our graduating artists, our survey includes the question “Are you still making art, or involved in art, in a way that was not mentioned before?” For MFA Ceramics, we found that all eight are currently working in the art field in ways that include full-time paid jobs, showing and selling work, teaching, etc. Although four graduates reported salaries, they ranged in the ways they were reported, including salaries, stipends per class taught, housing and materials allowance. For that reason, we have not included an average salary, though we estimate the annual income to be in the $30-40,000 range. 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 Number receiving degrees 13 13 8 8 8 Surveys received 6 (46%) 6 (46%) 3 (38%) 6 (75%) 8 (100%) Employed 6 (100%) 4 (67%) 3 (100%) 6 (100%) 8 (100%) Graduate school 0 0 0 0 0 Available for employment 0 2 (33%) 0 0 0 Not seeking employment 0 0 0 0 0 Number reporting salary 0 3 2 4 4 Average salary --- $38,133 $43,315 See notes above See notes above Employer Position Bemis Center Artist Bennington College Resident Artist Gimhae Clay/Arch Museum Planning Department Manager International College of Bangkok University and Chulagongkong University Resident Artist and Lecturer San Bao Ceramic Art Institute Visiting Artist Self-Employed Artist Self-Employed Potter Self-Employed Teacher and working artist
