Content Inside: 1 DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY SERVICES DRESS CODE The following is the revised dress code policy related to professional attire. It accomplishes two basic changes from the existing policy. First the new policy eliminates dress-down Fridays. Because we already permit business casual dress Monday through Thursday there is no good reason to further dress down on the 5 th business day of the week a day when like the other four we still see clients and are interacting with the community. Second the new policy disallows the wearing of jeans or levis. The list of acceptable and unacceptable clothing is nearly the same as the existing policy with the above exceptions. Because I know the change eliminating the wearing of colored jeans may require some employees to purchase clothing I am leaving it to Administrators District Managers and Regional Managers to implement that part of the policy so long as it is in effect by July 1 st 2006. The remainder of the policy is effective April 1 2006. I do believe that professional dress is an indicator of professionalism and of respect not just for the community but for each other as well. I understand how difficult this subject is. Defining professional dress in writing is very difficult but we all know it when we see it. I hope that rather than finding creative ways to interpret the policy to allow less than professional dress that each of you will consider how the way we dress is a part of how we are viewed by clients and others in our community. Thank you for your cooperation. This section will be inc ...
