You have an artists license to do just about anything on canvas.  There are a lot of people that say "I cant paint", but you can. When we were young and we all were at sometime, we painted with crayons, chalk and all sorts of mediums.  We loved it and did not care if the blob we put on paper looked like a tree as we know it. To us it was a tree or a house etc. We did not care what other children thought or anyone else for that matter. All we knew is that we were having fun and creating something that looked like something in our minds. Well, now that we are all grown up and mature, we cant paint or create anymore. It is childish and others might not like the way my tree looks. Well,  lose that attitude and be a child again when you paint. Drawing, painting, whatever…. Just do it and dont worry about what others think. Who knows, you might be the next Rembrandt! A nice way to start off is to get a nice sketch pad and take it wherever you go. Draw and doodle everything. Dont get disgusted, just keep drawing. You will eventually start to get the knack of it. You could pick up a book on sketching what you see. We all look at objects everyday, but we really dont see. You need to train the eye and brain to see. There are tons of books on the market to help you through this. You see, painting really starts off as a drawing with paint. Tone, color and value are what makeup a good painting. Paint is only paint. It could never be vase or an orange. It can only represent and fool the eye into thinking it is those objects. If something is painted wrong, your eye and brain knows it. You just cant put your finger on it, but it just doesnt look correct. The artist or painters job is to make you think that what you are painting is the object usi ...
