Content Inside: FAQs for Sooner Ballroom Dance Club SBDC is a registered student organization at the University of Oklahoma. You do not have to enroll in a class in order to be part of our club. There is a ballroom dance class associated with the university. You can enroll in this class on-line under 4990 in the Dance department. It is a 2 S/U credit class and counts as an upper-division elective. SBDC is simply a student organization, which requires no enrollment. The only requirement is paying dues. We typically have 3 sessions per semester, and you may join us at the beginning of any of these three sessions. If you can’t make it to the first one, feel free to come to the second meeting of a session, especially if you have previous dance experience. Otherwise, we’ll catch you up. 1. Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:00 pm beginners; 8:00 - 8:45 pm for intermediates 2. Union – Scholars Room or another room on the third floor. The Union has signs at the base of every stairwell that list the room assignments for that evening. Check these to confirm our location. 3. No partner or experience necessary! Anyone and everyone is welcome. We do not discriminate against gender, age, size, ethnicity, etc. We are open to community members, also. 4. $15 / session (5 weeks) for students or $20 / session for non-students 5. A session consists of 5 weeks. Each session we learn 3 dances. The next session we learn 3 new dances. (usually 1 Latin dance, 1 swing/nightclub, and 1 Smooth Dance) 6. Smooth Dances: Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot Latin Dances: Rumba, Cha-Cha, Salsa/Merengue, Samba Swing: East Coast, Hustle, Nightclub Two-Step Just to name a few… 7. Social outings once a month. Even if you can’t come to meetings, you should come to these. Check website for updates or add your e-mail address to the listserv. 8. Dress in whatever you wore that day. Nothing fancy. 9. Shoes: Shoes with backs are recommended. Rubber-soles make it difficult to turn on carpet. You are welco ...
