A Mini Festival at Wunderpark! (29July 2004) Singapore Art Museum (SAM) invites you for a walk in a whimsical park - WUNDERPARK! Join SAM on 1 – 15 August 2004 for a mini festival and experience the first- ever PARK IN A MUSEUM as the galleries are transformed. The inaugural Wunderpark! is a public programme conceived to make art more accessible to the public - experience, touch, live, play art! In line with SAM’s belief that art inspires, this initiative aims to foster creativity and art engagement amongst the youths. Wunderpark! is also the first in a series of programmes under Project “M”, an NHB-wide initiative that aims to engage the disenfranchised youths. So enter the Wunderpark! and have art experiences come alive at SAM! WUNDERPARK! For two weeks only, the galleries will be transformed! Come and enjoy an extraordinary park created by artist Khairuddin Hori, who has worked in both theatre and visual arts. Wunderpark! is an artist’s conception of a park, where other artists and performers are invited to perform, rehearse and run workshops. Visitors can walk through the maze, do graffiti, read a book, hum a song, catch a film in a park where it never rains - an oasis from the heat and the hustle and bustle of the city. Each day springs a new surprise as strange characters drop by. Chill out in the park in the day and by night, the park becomes the setting for film, dance, theatre and musical performances and events. 1 Dramatically lit to stimulate your visual senses, this experiential park is populated by life-sized animals, swaying soft fabric trees, oversized flowers, a whimsical rainbow arch, and a floaty cluster of cocoons.
