Content Inside: How Digital Cameras Work Digital cameras are much like regular cameras except that they do not use film. Instead, images taken with these cameras are stored electronically, in digital format. Many older digital cameras store the images on a memory chip located inside the camera. With more recent cameras, the images may be stored on external memory cards that can be inserted in a slot thats located somewhere on the camera body. A few digital cameras, such as the once popular Sony Mavica cameras, store the images on a floppy disk or a recordable mini-CD. Whatever the storage option, once the pictures have been taken, they usually will need to be transferred to the computer where they can be viewed, modified and if desired, permanently ...
