If you are not on campus, you may access your e- mail via the campus website http://waukesha.uwc.edu/ Face to Face meetings: Tuesdays September 6 through Tuesday December 20th 4 - 5:15 p.m. Immersion Excursion: Friday September 30, beginning at 3 p.m. We will take a field trip to two stores that sell recordings. The activity will culminate in a campus-wide cook out at the field station beginning around 5 p.m. I will need to know by Monday September 19 if you intend to go so I may make maps and get directions together for you. Office Hours: T 11 - 11:50 and 3 - 3:50, W 11 – 1:50. Other times by appointment. Required Text: Campbell, Michael and James Brody, Rock and Roll: An Introduction Shirmer Books, (1999). Also should include two CDs. Final Exam: Tuesday December 20th 4 - 5:15 p.m. Course Objectives: As part of a liberal arts curriculum, The History of Rock and Roll serves to develop your general intellectual capacities. Specifically, other objectives of this course are: Discover aspects of the history of rock and roll that you may not be familiar, Increase personal value (appreciation) of rock and roll as a social phenomenon through knowledge of the social milieu, important figures and music styles that contributed to the birth and growth of rock and roll, and Improve music listening skills and become a better informed music consumer.
