A petition in support of the circus was tabled. (Appendix A/1) RESOLVED: (Brittenden, Cohen) THAT THE PETITION AND LETTER FROM MURIEL JONES IN SUPPORT OF HOLDING THE CIRCUS AT WOODALL PARK BE RECEIVED. The Chair advised that the applicant had requested a change of date to 1-7 May 2007. The applicant had also stressed that the circus was a family event, with performances finishing at 9.00pm; only a basic PA system was used; the only animals were one quiet elderly elephant and eight ponies. He had also requested a review of the bond which was double that required in the past, and had pointed out that he had never been refused a bond refund in the past. The Parks Officer confirmed that previous bonds had been refunded in full. In response to questioning the Parks Officer pointed out that she had not supported the application in her recommendation to the Events Panel, due to damage caused to the ground by the previous circus at Woodall Park. Concern was expressed by the Parks Officer at the potential for greater damage to the ground if the event was rescheduled to the later date in May as requested.
