OMAI friends and family, While the school year is winding down, we’re busy gearing up for one of our signature programs: the 2nd Annual Teachers’ Institute on Spoken Word & Hip Hop in the Classroom and the Community. This is the best opportunity for educators, youth workers, community organizers, professors, and anyone concerned with our next generation to explore the history, pedagogy, and potential of youth culture for multicultural education and empowerment. It’s all happening June 18-22 right here on the UW-Madison campus. And new to the Institute this year is a public lecture and performance series that will take place each night of the week, culminating in a closing blowout concert hosted by the founding father of Hip Hop, DJ Kool Herc!
