The money will be used to help create and improve opportunities, activities and facilities for young people in the county. A youth panel, made up of 18 volunteers aged 13 to 21, have already been busy spending the money. Since the project was launched in September 2006 the panel have considered over 60 applications - more than 40 of which have been successful in gaining grants. The project has already awarded £518,693.30 in financial grants. There is still £481,306.70 available that the Youth Panel is keen to award to Young People for community projects. The next deadline for applications is 9 February 2007. Applicants must be aged 13 to19 years old and live in Somerset. Cont .pg 2 Grand Canyon, Taj Mahal and Somerset Levels & Moors? There are around 800 World Heritage Sites around the world ranging from the Grand Canyon to the Taj Mahal.
