Content Inside: Teaching Dance Teaching Dance is an intensive five-day program focusing on enhancing skills for dance teaching. This course offers a series of practical workshops, lectures and reflective discussions that provide opportunities to link theoretical understandings and practical skills to support and enhance your ability to manage and promote learning in your dance studios or classrooms. TOPICS • Applying safe dance principles • Alignment • Structuring a developmentally appropriate dance class • Catering for individuals in dance classes • Creating new material for dance classes • Creating dance resource materials • Research skills and online resources • Strategies for training beginning teachers. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A practical knowledge of at least one style of dance DATES 9 - 13 January 2007 Daily: 9.00am - 5.00pm Duration: Five days TUITION FEE Full registration $390 Ausdance members $360 Teaching Choreography and Performance The Teaching Choreography and Performance course is an intensive five-day program focusing on the processes for teaching, exploring and manipulating movement to create dance. You will be introduced to an analytical framework to assist you reflect on and interrogate your own choreography. This course will provide you with teaching strategies for preparing dancers for performance. Issues such as the psychology of performance and pacing of dance training will be addressed.
