Discussions, activities, visuals and, of course, music will guide our investigation of the hip-hop culture. In addition, the students will learn about the origins of hip-hop, including the artists, language and fashions that have been embraced by the culture. Students will have the opportunity for hands-on experience with the art of hip- hop, also known as graffiti, as well as performances and instruction from a step team and other dance groups from Cornell University’s campus. The course will provide the students with a chance to learn the history of something that plays an important role in their everyday lives.
