Content Inside: These teachers notes have been designed for classroom preparation and extension work in relation to the performance of Survival Tactics. We hope the suggested activities will assist you to further enjoy your performing arts experience back in the classroom. The activities are designed for students from Years 8-12. Drama educator Mathew Clausen, has prepared these notes. Included are a number of activities that you can use with your students. These activities provide an opportunity for the students to explore the broad themes and style of the performance. Syllabi written by NSW Board of Studies have been used as a guide for planning these activities. You should consider rephrasing questions and activities to suit the particular terminology, and curriculum foci used in your school. Some websites are suggested in this kit. It is recommended that before setting activities based on these, that teachers first visit the site and assess the suitability of the content for your particular school setting. Performance Description An all star Australian Hip Hop cast combines in a powerful, musical journey exploring the struggles of the urban metropolis. From the streets and clubs to the jails and bedrooms; songlines and beatbox, Bboying and body percussion, salsa and scratching all mix in a flick of the DJ crossfader. Rhyme, spoken word, graffiti and live performance are presented in gritty, uplifting stories of survival. Directed by Morganics: MC, veteran of the Australian Hip Hop scene, seasoned community worker, and Australias leading Hip Hop Theatre artist. Created and performed by Maya Jupiter, Blacker Conteh, Bboy Rely, Morganics, Wire MC and Sista Native.
