Content Inside: Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences T HEATRE M USICAL T HEATRE Department Overview The Faculty of Theatre offers bachelor of arts degree in theatre (performance, design, or generalist), theatre education, and musical theatre. The department also contributes to two new interdisciplinary majors: Film Studies and Arts Management. (Additional information on these two programs is available upon request from the Office of Admission.) Both the academic and production ele- ments of theatre training are emphasized in order to produce theatre and musical theatre students who are knowledgeable in all areas. Students are expected to participate fully in the production aspects of the theater pro- gram as the essential laboratory in which course work is integrated with practice. Although students are not required to declare their majors until the sophomore year, theatre and musical theatre training begins in the freshman year. Potential majors should seek advisement as soon as possible from the department chair or musical theatre director. The theatre season at The University of Tulsa is characterized by variety and qual- ity. Productions during the academic year usually include at least one musical, a clas- sic, and a contemporary play, as well as orig- inal works, one-acts, and student works.
